Ashdod, and I will bring down the insolence of the Philistines. 7 I will take their blood
from their mouths and their abominations from the midst of their teeth. These also will
be left for our God; they will be like a leader of a thousand men in Judah, and Ekron
will be like a Jebusite. 8 I will undertake a construction for my house, so that they may
not pass through or return. One who would drive them out will no longer come against
them, for now have I seen with my eyes.
9 Rejoice exceedingly, O daughter of Zion; proclaim, O daughter of Jerusalem.
Behold, your king is coming to you; he is righteous, and he himself is saving. He is
meek; he is riding on a draft animal and a young colt. 10 He will eliminate chariots from
Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the bow of battle will be eliminated; there
will be abundance and peace from the nations. He will rule over the waters as far as the
sea and over the rivers in the estuaries of the land.
11 You, by the blood of the testament, sent forth your prisoners out of the pit which
has no water. 12 You will sit in a stronghold, you prisoners of the congregation, for in
return for one day of your sojourning I will pay you back double. 13 For I bent you, O
Judah, as a bow for myself; I filled Ephraim, and I will raise up your children, O Zion,
against the children of the Greeks. I will handle you like the sword of a fighter. 14 The
Lord will be over them, and his arrow will come out like lightning. The almighty Lord will
sound forth with a trumpet, and he will go in the tumult of his threat. 15 The almighty
Lord will protect them; they will consume them and overwhelm them with slung stones.
They will swallow them like wine and fill the altar like bowls. 16 The Lord himself will
save them on that day, his people like a flock, for holy stones are being rolled over his
land. 17 For if something of his is good and if something of his is beautiful, there will be
grain with the young men and fragrant wine for the virgins.
Zechariah 10
1 Ask rain from the Lord for the early and the late hour. The Lord made appearances;
he will give them winter rain, vegetation in the field to each. 2 For the spokesmen
declared troublesome things. The diviners were declaring false visions and false
dreams; they comforted with vain things. Because of this, they were taken out like
sheep and mistreated, for there was no healing. 3 My anger was provoked against the
shepherds, and I will supervise the lambs. The almighty Lord God will supervise his
flock, the house of Judah; he will arrange them like his handsome horse in a battle. 4 He
looked out from it and made arrangements from it. There was a bow from it in anger;
everyone who marches out together will come out from it. 5 They will be like fighters
trampling mud on the roads in a battle. They will line up, for the Lord is with them, and
the riders of horses will be put to shame. 6 "I will strengthen the house of Judah and
save the house of Joseph; I will make them inhabitants because I loved them. They will
be as though I had not turned them away, for I am the Lord their God, and I will listen
to them. 7 They will be like the fighters of Ephraim, and their hearts will rejoice as with
wine. Their children will look and be cheerful, and their hearts will rejoice over the Lord.
8 I will signal to them and gather them in, for I will redeem them; they will be multiplied,
as numerous as they were. 9 I will sow them among the peoples, and those who are at a
distance will remember me. They will nourish their children, and they will return. 10 I will
