things up to the nations on this mountain, for this counsel is for all the nations. 8 Death
was strong and consuming, yet God again took away every tear from every face; he
took away the reproach of the people from all the earth. For the mouth of the Lord has
spoken. 9 On that day they will say, "Behold, our God in whom we hope! A We were glad;
we will become cheerful because of our salvation." 10 For God will give rest on this
mountain. The Moabite land will be trampled, in the manner that they trample a
threshing floor with wagons. 11 He will relax his hands, in the manner that he humbled
in order to destroy. He will humble his insolence on which he laid his hands. 12 He will
humble the protective height of your wall, and it will descend into the ground.
Isaiah 26
1 In that day they will sing this song over the land of Judah: "Behold, a secure city!
He will set up our salvation as the wall and rampart. 2 Open the gates! Let the people
enter who preserve righteousness, who preserve truth, 3 who support truth, and who
preserve peace. 4 For they hoped in you forever, O Lord, the great eternal God, 5 who
humbled and brought down those who reside in the heights. You will throw down
secure cities and bring them down to the ground. 6 The feet of the gentle and humble
will trample them."
7 The way of the godly became straight; the way of the godly has been prepared.
8 For the way of the Lord is justice; we hoped in your name and in the memory 9 which
our souls covet. At night my spirit gets up early for you, O God, because your
ordinances are a light over the earth. Learn righteousness, you who reside upon the
earth. 10 For the ungodly person has ceased. He will not learn righteousness upon the
earth; he will not perform the truth. Let the ungodly person be taken away, so that he
does not see the glory of the Lord. 11 O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they were not
acquainted with it. When they know it, they will be ashamed; jealousy will take an
undisciplined nation, and fire will now devour the opponents.
12 O Lord our God, give us peace, for you repaid all things to us. 13 O Lord our God,
acquire us. O Lord, we are not acquainted with any other except you; we name your
name. 14 The dead will not see life, neither will physicians resurrect them. Because of
this, you advanced; you destroyed and took away every male of them. 15 Add wicked
things to them, O Lord; add wicked things to all the glorious ones of the earth. 16 O
Lord, in oppression I remembered you; in a little oppression, your discipline was for us.
17 As a woman going into labor comes near to giving birth and shouts during her labor
pain, so we became for your beloved because of your fear, O Lord. 18 We conceived,
went into labor, and gave birth; we brought the spirit of your salvation over the earth.
However, those who reside B upon the earth will fall. 19 The dead will rise, those who are
in the tombs will awaken, and those who are on the earth will cheer. For the dew which
is from you is a cure for them, but the earth of the ungodly will fall.
20 Proceed, my people; enter your closets, shut your door, hide for a little while, until
