wine and oil. 25 I will compensate you for the years which the locust, the caterpillar, the
fungus, and the grasshopper have eaten, my great force which I sent out against you.
26 You will eat and eat, and you will be satisfied; you will praise the name of the Lord
your God for the things which he performed with you as wonders. My people will not be
ashamed forever. 27 You will recognize that I am in the midst of Israel, that I am the
Lord your God, and that there is no one else beside me; my people will no longer be
ashamed forever.
Joel 3 A
1 After this, it will be that I will pour out from my Spirit upon all flesh; your sons and
your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, and your young men
will see visions. 2 On my male slaves and on my female slaves I will pour out from my
Spirit in those days. 3 I will give wonders in heaven and on earth: blood, fire, and vapor
of smoke. 4 The sun will turn into darkness and the moon into blood before the great
and conspicuous day of the Lord comes. 5 It will be that everyone, whoever invokes the
name of the Lord, will be saved, for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem the saved one will
be just as the Lord said, as well as those who have had the good news preached to
them, whom the Lord has called.
Joel 4
1 For behold, in those days and in that season, whenever I return the captivity of
Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will also gather all the nations and bring them down to the
valley of Jehoshaphat. I will make a decision for them there on behalf of my people and
my inheritance Israel, who were dispersed among the nations. They divided my land,
3 cast lots for my people, gave their boys to prostitutes, and sold their girls for wine and
got drunk. 4 What do you have in common with me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all Galilee of
the Philistines? Are you giving me back retribution? Or are you bearing malice against
me? Quickly and speedily I will give back your retribution on your heads, 5 because you
took my silver and my gold, and you brought my choice and beautiful things into your
sanctuaries. 6 You sold the sons of Judah and the sons of Jerusalem to the sons of the
Greeks, so that you might expel them from their borders. 7 Behold, I will raise them up
out of the place where you sold them, and I will give back your retribution on your
heads. 8 I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the sons of Judah,
and they will sell them into captivity to a distant nation, for the Lord has spoken.
9 Proclaim these things among the nations; sanctify a battle; wake up the fighters.
Approach and ascend, all you military men. 10 Beat your plows into swords and your
sickles into spears. Let the powerless one say, `I myself am strong.´ 11 Arrange
yourselves and go in, all you surrounding nations, and gather there. Let the gentle one
become a fighter. 12 Let all the nations wake up and ascend to the valley of
Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. 13 Send out the
sickles, for the vintage is present. Go in, stomp, for the winepress is full. The vats will
