1 The word of the Lord was directed at me, saying, 2 "Son of man, set your face
against the sons of Ammon and prophesy against them. 3 You will say to the sons of
Ammon, `Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: "Since you rejoiced over my
holy places because they were profaned, over the land of Israel because it was
obliterated, and over the house of Judah because they went into captivity, 4 because of
this, behold, I will deliver you up to the sons of Kedem as an inheritance. They will
dwell among you with their utensils, and they will give their tents among you. They
themselves will eat your fruits, and they themselves will drink your cream. 5 I will give
the city of Ammon as pastures of camels and the sons of Ammon as a pasture of sheep,
and you will recognize that I am the Lord." 6 For thus says the Lord: "Since you clapped
your hands, stomped with your foot, and rejoiced from your soul against the land of
Israel, 7 because of this, I will extend my hand against you and give you as plunder
among the nations. I will eliminate you from the peoples and destroy you from the
countries in a destruction, and you will recognize that I am the Lord."
8 Thus says the Lord: "Since Moab A said, `Behold, isn’t the house of Israel and Judah
similar to all the nations?´ 9 because of this, behold, I will paralyze the shoulder of Moab
from the cities of his extremities, the select land, the house of Beth-jeshimoth above
the fountain of the city beside the sea. 10 I have given him the sons of Kedem in
addition to the sons of Ammon as an inheritance, so that there may be no memory of
the sons of Ammon. 11 I will execute vengeance on Moab, and they will recognize that I
am the Lord."
12 Thus says the Lord: "Since Idumea executed vengeance when they took
vengeance on the house of Judah, remembered wicked acts, and exacted a penalty,"
13 because of this, thus says the Lord: "I will also extend my hand against Idumea. I will
eliminate man and livestock from it, and I will make it a desert; those who are being
pursued from Teman will fall by the sword. 14 I will execute my vengeance against
Idumea by the hand of my people Israel; they will act in Idumea according to my wrath
and according to my fury, and they will recognize my vengeance," says the Lord.
15 Because of this, thus says the Lord: "Since the Philistines acted in vengeance and
raised up vengeance, while they were rejoicing from the soul, in order to wipe out
forever," 16 because of this, thus says the Lord: "Behold, I will extend my hand against
the Philistines, eliminate the Cretans, and destroy the remnants which reside by the
seacoast. 17 I will execute great acts of vengeance among them, and they will recognize
that I am the Lord when I give my vengeance against them."´"
