Ezekiel 27
1 The word of the Lord was directed at me saying, 2 "Son of man, take up a
lamentation over Zur. 3 You will say to Zur who resides at the entrance of the sea, to the
market of the peoples from many islands, `Thus says the Lord to Zur: "You said, `I put
my beauty around myself. 4 In the heart of the sea, your sons put beauty around you for
the Baalim. 5 Cedar from Senir was built for you; strips from boards of cypress from
Lebanon were taken to make boat masts for you. 6 They made your oars out of the land
of Bashan; they made your sacred things out of ivory, your woodland houses from the
islands of the Hittites. 7 Fine linen with embroidery out of Egypt became a mattress for
you in order to put glory around you and to wrap you in blue and purple from the
islands of Elishah; they became your wrappings. 8 Your rulers who resided in Sidon and
the Arvadians were your rowers; your wise men who were in you, O Zur, were your
pilots. 9 The elders of the Byblians B and their wise men were in you; these strengthened
your counsel, and all the ships of the sea and their rowers became yours to the farthest
west. 10 Persians, Lydians, and Libyans were in your force. Your military men hung small
shields and helmets on you; these gave your glory. 11 The sons of the Arvadians and
your force were on your walls; there were guards in your towers. They hung their
quivers on your harbors all around; these completed your beauty. 12 The Carthaginians
were your merchants due to the abundance of all your strength; they gave silver, gold,
iron, tin, and lead as your inventory. 13 Greece, the entire area and the adjacent places,
traded with you in the souls of men, and they gave bronze vessels as your
merchandise. 14 Out of the house of Togarmah, horses and horsemen gave your
inventory. 15 The sons of the Rhodians were your merchants; from the islands they
multiplied elephants' teeth as your merchandise. To the importers, you returned your
rewards: 16 men as your merchandise from the abundance of your association, liquid
myrrh and embroidered cloths from Tarshish. Both Ramoth and Karkor gave your
inventory. 17 Judah and the sons of Israel were your merchants in the sale of grain,
ointments, and cassia; they gave to your association the best honey, oil, and rosin.
18 Damascus was your merchant out of the abundance of all your power, wine out of
Helbon and wool out of Miletus. 19 They gave wine to your inventory. Out of Uzal there
is wrought iron, and there is a circuit among your association. 20 Dedan were your
merchants with choice livestock for chariots. 21 Arabia and all the rulers of Kedar were
your merchants; through your hand, they will trade in camels, rams, and lambs with
you. 22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah were your merchants, with the best spices
and useful stones; they gave gold as your inventory. 23 Charan and Canneh were your
merchants; Asshur and Chilmad were your merchants, 24 bringing blue merchandise,
choice treasures bound with cords, and cypress ships. 25 Among them, Carthaginians
