Excellence: Necessity, Possibility and Reality in Contemporary
World
Abstract. One of the most perceptive signs of the activity and
economic-social life from our present days is the orientation of economic
actors, leaders, managers and leadership, of the companies and other similar
entities, and not the least the world of business is the aspiration to excellence.
This represents one of the signs of an almost general orientation
towards the founding of human society and economy on the basis of scientific
knowledge. The truth is that the science – understood as type of activity, as
mainly intellectual work – and its results, products – scientific knowledge
became one of the most important factors of production. More than that,
science became the best compass with which people – actors of economicsocial
life – orient in the economic-social universe and in the natural
universe, and with its help, society and its people guide the ship on the
whirling waters of time. At the same time, the human activities represent
processes of technological application of scientific knowledge, of science.
In this context, which is good no longer represents a basic option and the
economy and society advance without deviations towards “excellent”. With the
help of science, the society takes in intellectual possession “excellence”, and
through practical activity, takes the same “excellence” in economic possession.
With all the progress registered in knowledge and practical activity,
the human society cannot and should not underrate the study of “excellence”
becoming a current and permanent object of science.
Given this state of things, we ventured to register to speak on the object
of study mentioned and to make attentive those interested a few considerations
linked especially to the main contents of the concept of “excellence” and of the
concepts derived, at which we add some ideas and thoughts related to the
necessity, possibility and reality of excellence nowadays.
