Coordinates of the Banking System Glob<strong>al</strong>ization<br />

Abstract. The following paper makes a review of the glob<strong>al</strong>ization of<br />

the banking system, presenting the elements that influenced the process and the<br />

strategies that banks choose after having <strong>de</strong>ci<strong>de</strong>d to internation<strong>al</strong>ize their<br />

business. Among those strategies we can find accelarated internation<strong>al</strong>ization,<br />

modarate internation<strong>al</strong>ization, business internation<strong>al</strong>ization followed by the<br />

withdraw<strong>al</strong>, consolidated internation<strong>al</strong>izaton. The paper <strong>al</strong>so tries to explain<br />

what can <strong>de</strong>termin a bank to internation<strong>al</strong>ize their business and <strong>al</strong>so presents<br />

the stratgies of a few major internation<strong>al</strong> banks, among those Deutsche Bank,<br />

Dai Ichi Kangoyo Dank, Bank of America, Citicorp.<br />

1. PRELIMINARII<br />

Mulţi speci<strong>al</strong>işti, care an<strong>al</strong>izează glob<strong>al</strong>izarea, pun în centrul<br />

atenţiei piaţa mondi<strong>al</strong>ă, pe care o consi<strong>de</strong>ră ca fiind factorul dominant<br />

şi unificator. Astfel, Livsey <strong>de</strong>fineşte glob<strong>al</strong>izarea ca fiind „Tendinţa<br />

firmelor <strong>de</strong> a-şi stabili unităţi <strong>de</strong> producţie în întreaga lume, adică<br />

oriun<strong>de</strong> piaţa este suficient <strong>de</strong> mare pentru a permite economii <strong>de</strong><br />

scară. Aceasta conduce la creşterea numărului şi a mărimii<br />

întreprin<strong>de</strong>rilor multinaţion<strong>al</strong>e. Trăsătura <strong>de</strong> bază a glob<strong>al</strong>izării rezidă<br />

în faptul că mărfurile, serviciile, capit<strong>al</strong>ul, munca şi i<strong>de</strong>ile sunt<br />

transferate pe plan internaţion<strong>al</strong> prin intermediul firmelor” 1 .<br />
