Les donnéesquotidiennes du modèle ARPEGE-Climat à résolution de 8 km montrent, pour les scénarios A2, A1B et B1, unepossible confirmation de ces changements récents à l’horizon 2060. Couplés à des perturbations économiques,ces changements climatiques pourraient déstabiliser la filière viti-vinicole du Roussillon sur le long terme.Mots-clés : Viticulture, climat méditerranéen, changement climatique, adaptation.Abstract: Will climate change destabilize the wine industry in Roussillon?Daily temperature and rainfall data from the Meteo-France station “Perpignan” (1925-2010) show an increasein mean temperatures of the growing season since the middle of 1980’s and a succession of particularly drysummers between 2003 and 2010. Daily data from the model ARPEGE-Climat (8km spatial resolution) show, forscenarios A1, A1B and B1, a possible confirmation of those recent changes by 2060. Adding to economicchanges, climatic changes could put at risk the wine industry of Roussillon in the next decades.Keywords: Viticulture, Mediterranean climate, climate change, adaptation.IntroductionLa question des impacts du changement climatique sur la viticulture a suscité denombreuses recherches récentes en France (Beltrando et Briche, 2010 ; Briche, 2011) et dansle monde (Jones et al., 2005), compte tenu de la forte sensibilité de cette activité auxvariations du climat et sa forte valeur ajoutée. Traditionnellement optimales pour laproduction vitivinicole avec des cépages tels que le Grenache et la Syrah, les conditionsclimatiques du littoral méditerranéen français pourraient devenir une contrainte si ellesdeviennent plus chaudes et plus sèches au cours du XXI ème siècle.Par ses spécificités socio-économiques, la région Languedoc-Roussillon représente un casintéressant pour étudier les enjeux actuels et futurs du climat pour la viticulture en milieuméditerranéen. Première région viticole de France en surface (30 % du vignoble national) eten nombre d’exploitations (26 % des exploitations viticoles), elle connaît depuis quelquesdécennies d’importants changements structurels dans la filière vitivinicole puisque, entre2000 et 2010, 20 % des surfaces viticoles ont été arrachées afin de répondre à une crise desurproduction mais menant ainsi à une production de meilleure qualité. Ainsi, au sein de cetterégion, le Roussillon (correspondant au département des Pyrénées-Orientales)traditionnellement producteur de vins doux naturels, a vu 40 % de son vignoble arraché entre2002 et 2010. Aujourd’hui, il ne regroupe que 11 % du vignoble régional, mais 82 % de laproduction bénéficie d’une AOP (Appellation d’Origine Protégée). Les caves coopératives,bien que leur nombre soit passé de 64 en 1996 à 48 en 2006, gardent une influence très fortedans le département : elles vinifiaient la récolte de 71,5 % des surfaces viticoles en 2006(Onivins, 2011).
