Properties of SIS Protocol<br />

Master Communication<br />

When switching on the 24 V supply voltage an automatic protocol<br />

detection is activated when receiving signals via the serial interface.<br />

A soon as either<br />

• a valid ASCII start sequence<br />

- or -<br />

• a valid SIS telegram<br />

was received the drive internally switches to the respective kind of<br />

protocol.<br />

• transmission rates of 9600 and 19200 baud<br />

• 8-bit ASCII protocol<br />

• no parity bit<br />

• one stop bit<br />

Note: There isn't any telegram frame used but the transmitted ASCII<br />

signs are converted and interpreted. It is only necessary to<br />

comply with a certain order.<br />

• binary protocol<br />

• checksum test (higher Hamming distance D)<br />

• all telegrams are identified by an unequivocal start character ("0x02")<br />

• defined structure of the telegram frame<br />

• it is possible to activate motions (e.g. jogging)<br />

General<br />

• address assignment<br />

→ communication address to be freely parameterized (via master<br />

communication, serial and control panel) via parameter P-0-4025,<br />

<strong>Drive</strong> address of master communication<br />

• Baud rate PROFIBUS-DP<br />

P-0-4079, Field bus: Baud rate<br />

The baud rate used by the field bus is automatically determined and only<br />

displayed in this parameter.<br />

Note: By inputting "0" as baud rate it is possible to activate automatic<br />

baud rate detection. In some cases this however might not<br />

work correctly so that it is recommended to make a manual<br />

input.<br />

Open Loop<br />

In operation without encoder (open-loop operation) the velocity control<br />

loop is not closed in the drive, but the drive is operated in a velocitycontrolled<br />

way (without feedback) via open-loop U/f control.<br />

Note: The method of open-loop/closed-loop motor control can be<br />

selected via bit 14 of parameter P-0-0045, Control word of<br />

current controller.<br />
