The sin ging cul tu re is out lined in the re search through an aest he tic and pra -
xial view of mu sic and mu sic edu ca ti on. As a ru le the re is no teaching avai la ble for
poor pitch sin gers in mu sic edu ca ti on ins ti tu tions ba sed on an aest he tic view, and
poor pitch sin ging is ha bi tu al ly att ri bu ted to an in ner and stab le trait of an in di vi du -
al. A sin ging skill should, ho we ver, be seen as a mul ti di men sional, cul tu ral and
con text bound phe no me non. Pra xial view pro vi des for a fruit ful star ting point of a
ho lis tic con cept of sin ging, and lear ning to sing. The stu dy out lines di men sions of
sin ging skills, a good re la tionship to sin ging, and a scaf fol ding mo del to pro mo te
sin ging in tu ne as an aid for de ve lo ping sin gers. In stead of ”poor pitch singer” the
concept of ”developing sin ger” is suggested.
