“Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer” adlı Gazavatnâmeye Göre Osmanlı Ordusu Sefere Nasıl Hazırlanırdı?
Osmanlı Devleti uzun yıllar boyunca değişik coğrafyalarda askerî seferler yapmış bir devlettir. Devletin askerî
sistemi; genişlemesini ve genel siyasetini yansıtması açısından ciddi analizlere tabi tutulmalıdır. Bu sistemin işleyişini de
askeri seferler en iyi şekilde yansıtmaktadır.
Bu bildiriye esas teşkil eden ise Osmanlı Devletinin önemli bir seferini anlatan Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer isimli bir
gazavât-nâmedir. Kroniklerin bir cinsi olan bu tarzda yazılmış tarihler, özel olarak; gazanâme, gazavâtnâme, fetihnâme,
zafernâme gibi isimlerle adlandırılmışlardır. Gazavatname tarzı eserlerde, cinsine göre farklı detaylara rastlanması mümkündür.
Bu kitaplarda bulunabilecek ayrıntılı bilgilerden en önemlisi de Osmanlı askerî sistemine dair ayrıntılı bilgilerdir.
Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer adlı eserde müellif çıkılan gazanın kendinden çok hazırlıklarını anlatır. Müellif, eserin giriş
kısmında Osmanlı Devleti’nin Avusturya-Rusya’ya olan 1736–39 seferini özetleyerek anlatırken, eserin aslı olan mukaddime
ve bablarda tamamen sefer hazırlıklarından bahseder. Bu bahislerde seferin maddi ve manevi hazırlıklarına detaylıca yer
verir. Osmanlı tarih yazıcılığında bu türden eserlere çok az rastlanır.
Eser muhteva yönüyle bazı başlıklara ayrılmıştır. Bu bildiride ise bu başlıklardan sadece askerî bilgiler incelenecek
ve analiz edilecektir.
Çalışma yöntemi olarak Topkapı Sarayı Revan Kütüphanesinde R.384 numarasıyla kayıtlı Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer
isimli eserin mikro filmleri alındı. Eser öncelikle transkribe edildi. Daha sonra içindeki bilgiler tasnif edilerek dönemindeki
kroniklerle bilgilerin karşılaştırılmalı analizi yapıldı. Böylece eserin döneme dair bilinen bilgilere hangi açılardan katkı
sağladığı, savaş tarihine dair yeni ve orijinal olan hangi bilgileri bize sunduğu tespit edilmeye çalışıldı.

According to “Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer” War Chronicle How Ottoman Army Prepared to
Expedition
Ottomans has gone to numerous expeditions in a variety of regions. The military system should be analyzed well
since it reflects the expansion and general policies of the state. Expeditions are great chances to see how this system works.
Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer (Introduction to Expedition) War Chronicle, which narrates an important expedition of
Ottomans, taken as the core of this study. Those war chronicles named with a variety of names like War-Chronicle, Conquest-Chronicle,
and Victory-Chronicle etc. There are different details embedded in those documents and among them
most important details are the ones that give insights about Ottoman military system.
In this particular work, Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer, the author tells more about the preparation rather than the expedition
itself. The author summarizes Ottoman’s expedition to Austria-Russia between 1736-39 in the beginning and then talks
about the preparation in the main body of his work. This kind of work, which is very rare in Ottoman history writing, tells
us about the physical and spiritual preparations of the expedition.
In terms of the content the chronicle consists of different titles, however in this study only military aspect will be
studied.
With regards to methods it should be stated that the Mukaddimetü’s-Sefer chronicle’s microfilms has taken from
Topkapı Palace’s Revan Library where it is listed with the call number R.34. First transcription to the modern Turkish has
done, and then the information has been classified. Finally a comparative analysis made using those information and other
chronicles in the same time period. Doing so this study aims to find out how this particular chronicle contributed to the
existing knowledge about the era and what kind of new knowledge it provides about war history.
