Osmanlı’nın Kötü Kadınları: Muhadarat, Dürdane Hanım, İffet, Küçük Gelin, Mehcure, Kâbus
Adlı Romanlardan Hareketle Osmanlı’da Kötü Kadın Algısı
Coğrafyamızda kadın hareketinin başlangıcı Osmanlı’nın son dönemlerine denk gelmiş, kadınların edebiyata
girişi, bazı erkek aydınların bu hareketi destekleyişi, kadının eğitim hayatına girişi, Osmanlı’da kadının yaşantısını oldukça
değiştirmiştir. Kadın olgusunun değişimine rağmen Osmanlı toplumunda ve toplumdan bağımsız olmayan yazarların
kaleminde iyi kadın-kötü kadın algısı aynı kalmıştır. Bunu en iyi örnekleyen ise toplum yaşantısının gözler önüne serildiği
dönemin romanları olmuştur. Bu düşüncelerin hareket noktası olduğu çalışmanın amacı toplumun bakış açısına dair ipucu
veren romanlardan yola çıkarak Osmanlı’da kötü kadın algısını ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca çalışmada Osmanlı toplumunda
yaratılmak istenilen kadın modeline değinilerek kadınların hangi davranışlarının iyi övgüsünü almasına, hangi davranışının
kötü olarak görülmesine sebep olduğuna dair incelemeler yapılması amaçlanmaktadır. Yemek yapan, kocasının her
hareketine razı gelen, tek amacı çocuklarına iyi bir anne olmak olan iyi kadının anlatımından sonra kötü kadın algısı üzerine
değerlendirme yapılacaktır. Çalışan, modern kadına nasıl bakıldığının yanı sıra rahat ve özgür tutum içerisinde olan
ve toplumun ahlak kuralları çerçevesinin dışına çıkan, kocasının söylemlerine itiraz eden kadının ne şekilde tepki aldığı
incelenecektir.
Muhadarat, Dürdane Hanım, İffet, Küçük Gelin, Mehcure, Kâbus adlı romanların temel kaynak olarak alınıp kadın
algısının ortaya konulmasının yanı sıra romanların kapsadığı dönemdeki yaşantıya dair bilgi verilecektir. Çalışmamızın
alana yönelik özgün katkısı ise Osmanlı, Cumhuriyet Dönemi tiyatro ve sinemasından, Yeşilçam sinemasına ve günümüz
yapımlarına etki eden kötü kadın imajının doğuşuna değinecek olmakla birlikte daha önce değerlendirilmemiş romanlardan
çeşitli çıkarımlarda bulunulacak olmasıdır.

The Bad Women of the Ottoman Empire: The Perception of Bad Woman in the Ottoman Empire
Based on the Novels: Muhadarat, Durdane Hanim, Iffet, Kucuk Gelin, Mehcure, Kabus
The woman movement in this geography began in the late Ottoman Period. The entry of women into the literature
and high education with the support of some male intellectuals quitely changed the lives of women despite the change
of the description of women; the perception of the bad and good woman remained the same for the Ottoman society and
for some authors who intertwined with the society. The best examples of this perception can be seen in the novels of the
period which reveal the social life of the society. The aim of this work will reveal the perception of the bad woman, based
on the novels that give clues about this perception. Besides, this essay will examine the reasons why a woman called bad
in the late Ottoman society, by referring the ideal woman in which society wanted to create. Additionally, the essay will
analyze the society’s reaction to the free- thinking woman who worked and who wanted to the same rights to her husband
in the Ottoman Empire.
The essay will also give information about the social life of the period, based on the novels which were written
during the period such as Muhadarat, Durdane Hanim, Iffet, Kucuk Gelin, Mehcure and Kabus. The contribution of this
study to the literature is that the examination and evaluation of the birth of the bad woman image that have affected the
literature, theater, art, cinema and recent productions from the late Ottoman period to today’s Turkey including the Yesilcam
Era.
