XIX. Yüzyıl Batı Literatürü Osmanlı Musiki Çalışmalarına Bir Bakış: Abbe Maximilian Stadler
ve Batı Notalarıyla Neşredilmiş İlk Ayin-i Şerif Mecmuası (Original-Chöre Der Derwische
Mewlewi)
Tebliğimize konu olan eser, Almanya’nın İstanbul sefaretinde görevli Hr. von Hussard tarafından görevi esnasında
dinleyip seyrettiği ve ezberlediği Mevlevi ayinlerinin, Viyana’da bestekâr, rahip Maximilian Stadler’e defaatle okuması
ve Stadler tarafından da bu ayinlerin notaya alınarak piyano forte partisyonlarının ilave edilmesi suretiyle meydana
gelmiştir. Eser tespit edebildiğimiz kadarıyla Batı notalarıyla neşredilmiş ilk ayin-i şerif mecmuası olma özelliğine sahiptir.
Eserin sözlü ravisi konumundaki Hussard’ın ayinlerin Farsça güftelerini hem Almancaya tercüme edip, hem de Farsça
ibarelerin Almanca imlasını bu tercümelerin altında yer almak suretiyle “Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung” haftalık dergisinde
yayımladığı da bilinmektedir. Toplamda yedi defterden oluşan eserin her bir defterinde farklı ayin melodileri bulunmaktadır.
Ayin melodileri nitelemesini kullanmamızın sebebi de eserde bulunan ayinlerin bütün selamları (bölümleri)
ihtiva etmemesidir. Türkiye kütüphanelerinde nüshası bulunmayan tarihi öneme sahip bu matbu eserin –kaynaklarda ismi
ve serencamından söz edilmesine rağmen- araştırmalarımız sonucunda sadece British Library’de nüsha/nüshalarının bulunuyor
olması ya çok sınırlı sayıda tab edildiği, ya da Osmanlı musikisiyle ilgilenen özel şahısların kütüphanelerinde yer
bulabildiğini ihsas etmektedir.
Bu tebliğimizde 1820 tarihinde Viyana’da Pietro Mechetti qm Carlo tarafından neşredilmiş Original-Chöre der
Derwische Mewlewi isimli ayin-i şerif mecmuasının literatürdeki yeri ve önemi üzerinde durularak eser, müellifi ve eserin
içeriği hakkında bilgi verilecektir. Esasında bu eser ve içeriği Türk musiki tarihi açısından kayda değer bir önemi haiz olmamakla
birlikte Batı’da Osmanlı musikisi üzerine yapılan çalışmalar arasında özgün yönleri bulunmaktadır.
A Brief View on Ottoman Music Studies in the Western Literature of 19 th Century:
Abbe Maximilian Stadler and the First Notes of Mewlewi Rituels Published in Western Notation

The book that focused on in this presentation was written by Maximilian Stadler from listening of Mr. von Hussard
who served as an emissary in Istanbul and he has joined to some Mevlevi rituals and memorized their music. Stadler
wrote down these rituals notation including the piano parts. So the work was created. According to our research, it is the first
compilation in Western notation. Hussard, the narrators of the rituals, has the Persian texts translated into German, as far
as we know and he has published it with German phonetics of Persian words in the weekly magazine “Allgemeine Musikalische
Zeitung”. The work consists of a total of 7 booklets; each booklet contains various ritual melodies. We prefer the word
“ritual melody” because the rituals in this book do not include all parts (selam). Although sometimes one encounters the
title of this historically important work in Turkish literature, but no Turkish library owns a copy of it. As far as we were able
to find out, a few copies are in the British Library. This gives the impression that the work was printed in limited edition.
This paper focuses on the role and importance of the compilation titled Original-Chöre der Derwische Mewlewi
in ​the literature. We will give information about the author and the content. Actually, this work is not very important for
the history of Turkish music. But compared to the other Western studies on Ottoman music it has some original aspects.
