17. Yüzyılın Son Çeyreğinde Rodosçuk Gümrüğü
Osmanlıların Trakya’ya geçişinin hemen ardından fethedilen Rodosçuk, İstanbul’un ele geçirilişiyle birlikte önemi
artmış ve başkentin ihtiyaçlarının karşılanmasında kilit rol oynayan bir şehir haline gelmiştir. İstanbul, Bursa, Halep
gibi diğer Osmanlı şehirleriyle kıyaslandığında küçük ölçekli bir şehir olmasına rağmen ticari hayat oldukça canlıdır.
Rodosçuk iskelesi, İstanbul’a gelen malların depolandığı bir yer olmasının yanı sıra, İstanbul-Edirne arasındaki
trafikte de etkin bir konum elde etmiştir. İstanbul’dan deniz yoluyla Rodosçuk’a getirilen mal ve eşyalar buradan karayoluyla
Edirne’ye taşınmış ya da Edirne’den karayoluyla getirilen emtia deniz yoluyla Rodosçuk’tan İstanbul’a nakledilmiştir. Bu
özelliğinden ötürü Rodosçuk’ta İstanbul Gümrüğü’ne bağlı olarak bir gümrük oluşturulmuştur. Bu araştırmanın amacı, 17.
yüzyılın son çeyreğinde Rodosçuk Gümrüğü’nün yapısını ve işleyişini incelemektir. İstanbul Gümrüğü ve mülhakatına ait
defterler bulunmadığından 1678-1699 yılları arasına ait Rodosçuk Şer’iyye Sicilleri’nde yer alan gümrükle ilgili belgeler bu
çalışmanın ana kaynağını oluşturacaktır.

Rodoschuk Customs in the Last Quarter of 17 th Century
Rodoschuk where have been conquered shortly after the transition of Ottomans to Thrace, became more important
after the conquest of Istanbul and started to play a key role in supplying the needs of the new capital. Despite it was a
small scaled city in comparison with Istanbul, Aleppo and Bursa, it was so alive in the commercial activities.
As well as Rodoschuk port was the warehouse for the goods which came to Constantinople, it has achieved an
active role in the traffic between Istanbul and Edirne. The goods and properties which brought from Istanbul to Rodoschuk
were being transferred with overland transport to Edirne and also the goods and properties which brought to Rodoschuk
from Edirne with overland transport were being transferred to Istanbul with maritime transport. Because of this feature, a
customs office which was affiliated to the Customs Office of Istanbul has been established in Rodoschuk. The main aim of
this research is to examine the structure and mechanism of this customs office in the last quarter of the 17 th century. Due
to the lack of the registries of Istanbul Customs Office, the main sources of this research will be the Sharia court records of
Rodoschuk between the years 1678 and 1699.
