Situé dans une belle forêt mêlée (chênes, hêtres et
sapins) en bordure immédiate de la baignade aménagée
de Brumath, le parc compte 3 ha et propose 16
parcours avec des ateliers pour les 3/8 ans, la famille
et les sportifs confirmés.
Durée: 3h.

La Heidenkirche est le dernier vestige du village
disparu de Birsbach. Il semblerait que cette église
remonte aux premiers siècles de la christianisation de
la région (époque des missions franques) et ait pris la
place d’un vieux temple païen, d’où son nom.
Des fouilles furent entreprises en 1911-12, ainsi qu’en
1999, et l’édifice a été consolidé début 2000.
Cette visite permet de découvrir l’histoire du village
de Birsbach, disparu à la fin du XV e s. Aujourd’hui,
seule subsiste son église dédiée à St Mathia, que la
tradition populaire a rebaptisé «Heidenkirche».

Der Park erstreckt sich auf 3 Hektar mitten in einem
schönen Mischwald (Eichen, Buchen und Fichten)
gleich neben dem Badesee von Brumath. Er bietet
16 verschiedene Strecken und sogar Ateliers für 3 bis
8-jährige Kinder. Er ist für die ganze Familie und
geübte Sportler gedacht.

Die Heidenkirche ist die letzte Spur eines verschwundenen
Dorfes mit dem Namen Birsbach. Die Ruine
stammt wahrscheinlich aus den ersten Jahrhunderten
der Christianisation der Gegend (Epoche der Frankenherrschaft)
und ersetzte wohl einen heidnischen
Tempel, woher der Namen stammen dürfte. Die Ausgrabungen
fanden 1911-12 und zuletzt 1999 statt. Im
Jahr 2000 wurde das Gebäude restauriert.
Bei diesem Abstecher können Sie die Geschichte eines
Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts verschwundenen Dorfes
entdecken. Nur eine Sankt Mathia geweihte Kirche
steht noch, im Volksmund Heidenkirche genannt.
Die Heidenkirche ist der Ausgangspunkt von 5
Wanderwegen.

and fir trees) on the edge of the Brumath lake site,
the park covers 3 hectares and offers 16 trails with
a few workshops for 3 to 8 year olds, families and
high-level sports enthusiasts.

This old ruined chapel is what remains of the
disappeared village Birsbach. It dates from the
early christianisation of the area and was erected
on the site of an old pagan temple.
The site was excavated in 1911-12 and in 1999
and the chapel has been strengthened at the
beginning of 2000.
On this tour, you will discover the history of the
village of Birsbach, which disappeared at the end
of the 15th century. Today, only its church dedicated
to Saint Mathia has survived, renamed by
popular tradition as the “Heidenkirche”.
