4.3. Emergency Reporting Procedures
4.3.1. Immediately report an emergency on FedEx property to
Control or a member of FedEx management by telephone,
radio, or messenger.
4.3.2. Contact local FedEx operations management for lists of
emergency numbers.
4.3.3. Place emergency phone numbers in conspicuous places
throughout the work area and on telephones.
4.3.4. Photographs of emergency situations are prohibited unless
security gives written approval.
4.3.5. Do not make comments regarding emergencies to a media
representative. Refer media inquiries to FedEx Corporate
Communications
4.3.6. If there is an evacuation, immediately report to the
appropriate assembly area. See your supervisor or one of
the emergency information maps posted in various locations
in each building to confirm the location of the appropriate
assembly area.
4.3.7. Any event from a near miss to a serious injury or fatality
must be reported to the FedEx project manager as well as to
FedEx Corporate Safety within 24 hours of the occurrence.
4.4. Accidents Involving Serious Injury or Death
4.4.1. In the case of a serious accident, call the emergency
telephone numbers provided by management for site
specific numbers for immediate assistance and to obtain
necessary first aid.
4.4.2. Qualified FedEx Express personnel will assist in a lifethreatening
emergency.
4.4.3. Outside medical assistance should be requested by calling
the provided emergency numbers when needed.
4.4.4. Clear the area and keep away non-essential personnel.
4.4.5. Provide assistance to rescue personnel if requested.
4.4.6. After proper evacuation of the injured employee, do not
disturb or remove anything in the immediate area of an
accident scene without FedEx permission.
4.4.7. The responsible contractor must make a full investigation
and submit a report within 24 hours of the event and present
it to the appropriate FedEx representative.
