SECTION 09512 - ACOUSTICAL TILE CEILINGS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and
Division 1 Sections of these specifications, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes acoustical tiles and concealed suspension systems for ceilings.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated.
B. Coordination Drawings: Drawn to scale and coordinating acoustical tile ceiling installation with hanger
attachment to building structure and ceiling mounted items. Show size and location of initial access
modules.
C. Samples: For each exposed finish.
D. Product test reports.
E. Research/evaluation reports.
F. Maintenance data.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Acoustical Testing Agency Qualifications: An independent testing laboratory, or an NVLAP-accredited
laboratory.
B. Fire-Test-Response Characteristics:
1. Fire-Resistance Characteristics: Where indicated, provide acoustical tile ceilings identical to those
of assemblies tested for fire resistance per ASTM E 119 by UL or another testing and inspecting
agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.
a. Identify materials with appropriate markings of applicable testing and inspecting agency.
2. Surface-Burning Characteristics: Acoustical tiles complying with ASTM E 1264 for Class A
materials, when tested per ASTM E 84.
a. Smoke-Developed Index: 450 or less.
