PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS, GENERAL
A. VOC Content: 250 g/L or less when calculated according to 40 CFR 59, Subpart D (EPA Method 24) and
complying with VOC content limits of authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Low-Emitting Materials: Air barriers shall comply with the testing and product requirements of the
California Department of Health Services' "Standard Practice for the Testing of Volatile Organic Emissions
from Various Sources Using Small-Scale Environmental Chambers."
2.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. General: Air barrier at exterior side of exterior walls shall be capable of performing as a continuous vaporpermeable
air barrier and as a liquid-water drainage plane flashed to discharge to the exterior incidental
condensation or water penetration. Air-barrier assemblies shall be capable of accommodating substrate
movement and of sealing substrate expansion and control joints, construction material changes,
penetrations, and transitions at perimeter conditions without deterioration and air leakage exceeding
specified limits.
B. General: Air barrier at interior side of exterior walls and underside of roof shall be capable of performing
as a continuous vapor-retarding air barrier flashed to discharge incidental condensation or water
penetration. Air-Barrier assemblies shall be capable of accommodating substrate movement and of
sealing substrate expansion and control joints, construction material changes, penetrations, and
transitions at perimeter conditions without deterioration and air leakage exceeding specified limits.
C. Air-Barrier shall conform to the requirements of the FedEx Facility Criteria Documents Manual, dated May
2010 Element C30, PART 1 PERFORMANCE.
1. Administrative Offices:
a. Interior Wall Finishes at Exterior Walls: Maximum vapor-permeance of 1 perm when tested
in accordance with ASTM E 95.
b. Ceiling Finishes at Roof Level: Maximum vapor-permeance of 1 perm when tested in
accordance with ASTM E 95.
2.3 VAPOR-RETARDING, AIR-BARRIERS
A. Provide Vapor-Retarding Air-Barriers as indicated on Drawings, Vapor-Retarding, Air-Barrier: Reinforced-
Polyethylene membrane.
1. Two outer layers of polyethylene film laminated to an inner reinforcing layer consisting of either
nylon cord or polyester scrim and weighing not less than 25 lb/1000 sq. ft., with maximum
permeance rating of 0.0507 perm. Products:
a. Raven Industries Inc.; DURA-SKRIM 6WW.
b. Reef Industries, Inc.; Griffolyn T-65.
c. Sto Corp.; VaporSeal in two-component assembly.
AIR-BARRIERS 07273 - 2
