A. Install six inch wide underground warning tape located one foot above buried utilities that identifies the
utility.
B. Concrete encasements around high voltage underground electric wires shall contain a red dye in the
concrete.
C. Provide record drawings of utilities in accordance with Section 00711. Each drawing shall bear the seal of
a Civil Engineer or Land Surveyor registered in the State of California. As a minimum, the drawing shall
include the following information:
1. A chart with the following information on each marker:
a. Marker number.
b. Grid coordinates.
c. Service (i.e. gas, water…)
d. Pipe/wire size.
e. Type of pipe installed (i.e. Schedule 40 steel with coating)
f. Depth of burial.
2. A scaled drawing of the utilities with the survey grid on the drawing. The depth of the utilities shall
be provided on the drawings at a maximum of 100-foot intervals, changes in direction and when
pipes pass under surface obstacles.
3. Reference marks or locations.
3.3 UNDERGROUND UTILITY MARKERS
A. Provide permanent markers for new underground utilities at the following locations, as a minimum:
1. Within two feet of each side of obstacles or walls.
2. Changes in direction.
3. Within two feet of each connecting pipes at branch line connections.
4. Spaced maximum 300 feet along straight runs.
5. Within two feet of the beginning/end of pipe.
B. Markers shall contain information in accordance with details 9 and 10 on sheet CS503.
C. Install markers in accordance with details 7 and 8 on CS503.
D. Coordinates of utility markers shall be determined by a field survey. The survey shall be accurate within
1/10,000 of a mile and shall be referenced to the California State Plane coordinates.
E. Submit one (1) copy of the survey traverses used to determine coordinates of the markers.
