A. The Construction Manager will pay for initial testing services, except where the provision of initial
testing services is indicated as the Contractor's responsibility.
B. If initial tests indicate non-compliance of an item with Contract documents, the cost of initial tests
associated with that item's noncompliance will be deducted from the Contract Sum.
C. Retesting: When initial tests indicate non-compliance with the Contract Documents, all subsequent
retesting occasioned by the non-compliance shall be performed by the same testing agency and
the costs thereof will be deducted from the Contract Sum.
1.5 CODE COMPLIANCE TESTING
A. Inspections and tests required by codes or ordinances, or by a plan approval authority, and which
are made by a legally constituted authority, shall be the responsibility of and shall be paid for by the
Contractor, unless otherwise provided in the Contract Documents.
1.6 CONTRACTOR'S CONVENIENCE TESTING
A. Inspecting and testing performed exclusively for the Contractor's convenience shall be the sole
responsibility of the Contractor.
1.7 INSPECTION BY CONSTRUCTION MANAGER’S OR OWNER'S PERSONNEL
A. From time to time, personnel in the employ of the Construction Manager or Owner may inspect the
work where the work is in progress, but shall have no authority to direct the Contractor or request
changes in the work except through the Construction Manager.
1.8 COOPERATION WITH TESTING LABORATORY
A. Representatives of the testing laboratory shall have access to the work at all times. Provide
facilities for such access in order that the laboratory may properly perform its function.
1.9 TAKING SPECIMENS
A. Specimens and samples for testing, unless otherwise provided in the Contract Documents, will be
taken by the testing personnel. Sampling equipment and personnel will be provided by the testing
laboratory. Deliveries of specimens and samples to the testing laboratory will be performed by the
testing laboratory.
1.10 SCHEDULES FOR TESTING
A. Establishing the schedule:
1. By advance discussion with the testing laboratory,, determine the time required for the
laboratory to perform its tests and to issue each of its findings.
2. Provide required time within the construction schedule.
3. Revising the schedule: When changes of construction schedule are necessary during
construction, coordinate such changes of schedule with the testing laboratory as required.
