2.1 PIPE SPECIFICATIONS
A. Piping shall be as delineated. Applications shall be as outlined in subsequent sections of these
Specifications.
Pipe Specification No. 1
DESIGN PRESSURE - 240 psig
MAXIMUM DESIGN TEMPERATURE - 200 deg F
PIPE - Type L hard drawn seamless copper ASTM B88.
JOINTS - Soldered using 95-5 lead-free solder or equal.
SOLDER CONTAINING LEAD SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED.
FITTINGS - Wrought copper solder joint, ANSI B16.22; or cast bronze solder joint, ANSI B16.18.

DESIGN PRESSURE - Gravity
MAXIMUM DESIGN TEMPERATURE - 180 deg F
PIPE and FITTINGS - Service weight cast iron soil pipe, and fittings; tar coated inside and outside.
ASTM A74.
JOINTS - Above and below ground joints shall be neoprene compression gasket, Tyler Tyseal or
equal. Above ground concealed joints may be no hub.

MAXIMUM DESIGN TEMPERATURE - 180 deg F
PIPE - Type DWV hard temper seamless copper type ASTM B306.
JOINTS - Soldered using 95-5 lead-free solder.
SOLDER CONTAINING LEAD SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED.
FITTINGS - Cast bronze solder joint drainage, ANSI B16.23; or wrought copper solder joint
drainage, ANSI B16.29.

PIPE - Schedule 40 galvanized steel ASTM A53 or A106, Grade A or B.
JOINTS - Threaded
FITTINGS - 4 inch and smaller - Standard weight galvanized cast iron screwed drainage type;
ANSI B16.12, ASTM A126.

DESIGN PRESSURE – Gravity
PIPE – Schedule 40 Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) Plastic D.W.V.; ASTM D2665, ASTM D1785.
JOINTS – Solvent cemented; ASTM D2564.
FITTINGS – Schedule 40 Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) Plastic D.W.V.; ASTM D2466.
NOTE: PVC PIPING SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN AIR PLENUMS.
