501070099 Federal Express Oakland Sort Expansion Issued for Bid 10/11 SECTION 01052 - EXISTING FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT PART I - GENERAL 1.1 INTERFACES 1.2 TITLE A. Interfaces with building and existing facilities are as shown on the Drawings. The Contractor shall be responsible for determining and assuring compliance with all interface requirements relating to the items to be supplied in accordance with the Contract Documents. B. The Contractor shall familiarize itself with existing conditions at the Site and verify the location of the facilities, equipment, and/or utilities to be installed. C. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining whatever additional information it may require via Site visits. The Contractor shall, by any means (including field measurements) determine actual Site conditions. All design adjustments resulting from these studies shall be identified to Federal Express in writing. Failure by the Contractor to do so shall not relieve it of the responsibility for successfully performing the Work without additional expense to Federal Express. D. Federal Express assumes no responsibility for representations concerning Site conditions made by any of its agents unless such representations are stated in the Contract Documents. A. Where existing equipment or property is to be removed as a part of the Work, the title to such equipment and property shall remain in the name of Federal Express and the equipment or property shall not be taken off Site unless specifically authorized in writing by Federal Express. 1.3 TESTING A. Federal Express will require the Contractor to test any component or assembly that may have been affected by work in the area. B. The Contractor shall notify the Construction Manager at least one week before the beginning of assembly and testing to enable Construction Manager's representatives to be present. C. This Section includes Federal Express Corporation's policy for the conduct of Contractors, subcontractors, consultant’s and all other personnel in the Contractor’s employ. 1.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. The Contractor/Consultant shall ensure that its personnel observe and adhere to the safety and security regulations as set forth in the Contract Documents. B. Personnel found in violation of these policies will not be permitted re-entry to the facility. 1.3 AUTHORIZED AREAS A. Personnel shall remain in the designated areas assigned to them. B. Personnel shall remain clear of aircraft. There is absolutely no valid excuse for personnel to be on or near aircraft. 1.4 SMOKING A. Personnel are not permitted to smoke in Federal Express Corporation's buildings, facilities, or on ramps. B. Smoking is permitted inside Consultant's/Contractor's on site trailers and fully enclosed shack. 1.5 ALCOHOL ABUSE A. The consumption, possession, distribution, sale, use or transportation of alcohol in vehicles is expressly prohibited on the Federal Express Corporation's premises. Such activities will result in immediate expulsion from the premises and the notification of the proper local authorities. B. Being under the influence of alcohol while on the Federal Express Corporation's premises is expressly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion from the premises. 1.6 DRUG ABUSE A. The possession, consumption, sale, use or transportation of illegal, controlled drugs or substances in vehicles is expressly prohibited on the Federal Express Corporation's premises. B. Illegal, controlled drugs and substances include, but are not limited to narcotics, depressants, stimulants, marijuana, and hallucinogenic drugs. Such activities as listed above will result in immediate expulsion from the premises and the notification of the proper local authorities. C. Being under the influence of illegal, controlled drugs or substances while on the Federal Express Corporation's premises is expressly prohibited and will result in expulsion from the premises and the notification of the proper local authorities.
