5. MINDFULNESS
Dan Siegel writes, “Being mindful, having mindful awareness
is often defi ned as a way of intentionally paying attention to the
present moment without being swept away with judgments.” 20
Mindfulness has been practiced in the East and West from
ancient times to the present. Although it is practiced in many religions,
mindfulness is not necessarily religious. It is a focusing of our
attention that promotes health and can be seen as a brain hygiene. 21
It is a form of mental activity that trains the mind to become aware
of its awareness and its own intentions. Also it promotes health,
resilience, flexibility, calmness, and focus. These are key components
for being a Star Performer, maintaining your IQ points, and
being in the top 10%.
