Unfortunately, the crisis of the day tends to take precedence over<br />

dedicating this quality time.<br />

The first 10 of the following 23 strategies are key ingredients<br />

organizations must incorporate to master the competency of Collaboration<br />

and Teamwork. Each needs to become a discipline that is<br />

practiced, reinforced, and refi ned. <strong>On</strong>ly then does Star Performance<br />

become a habit and a solid foundation for superior teamwork. The<br />

following combine to help you develop high-performance teams.<br />

Average performers do what is easy and NATURAL. By that I<br />

mean they do what is obvious, effortless, and painless. Star Performers<br />

do what is UNNATURAL and difficult<br />

on a regular basis to develop their<br />

teams. By that I mean that, despite the<br />

pain, they do what is necessary in an organized,<br />

ritualized, and disciplined manner.<br />

“Star” approach, and gives specific actions<br />

designed to help you make your team<br />

Star Performers<br />

teams.<br />

AVERAGE: Holds a blurry vision of where the organization is<br />

going and does not share this vision often enough throughout all of<br />

the departments.<br />

STAR: Creates a clear and inspiring vision for the future that<br />

is communicated regularly, understood by all members, and reinforced<br />

in numerous ways.<br />

ACTIONS to do the unnatural and be more effective:<br />

Leaders maintain a clear picture of their vision <strong>with</strong> a deliberate plan<br />

to communicate it to the team. Following are some suggestions.
