CARLY FIORINA<br />

Carly Fiorina is a good example of the resiliency that Warren<br />

Bennis said is the key attribute of a leader. Since leaving the CEO<br />

position of Hewlett Packard (HP) in 2005 under pressure from her<br />

board of directors, Fiorina has reemerged into the spotlight—one,<br />

as a breast cancer survivor, and two, as a candidate for the Senate<br />

from the state of California. She said her breast cancer experience<br />

steeled her for a rough-and-tumble campaign against Barbara<br />

Boxer.<br />

In 2008 Fiorina also showed that she could follow the lead<br />

of others in a new realm as she supported John McCain. During<br />

McCain’s run for office, Fiorina acted as his chairman of fundraising.<br />
