3. COMMUNICATION<br />

“It is absolutely essential to present the team <strong>with</strong> accurate<br />

and up-to-date information regarding our fi nancial performance,<br />

achievement of stated goals, etc. We have placed a bulletin board<br />

in a central location that contains easy-to-read graphs and charts.<br />

These graphs and charts document our revenue, expenses, profitability,<br />

and inventory value compared to our budgets and goals. All<br />

members of the team have been trained in how to read and interpret<br />

these graphs and all team members share a common vision.<br />

Everyone knows how we are performing to goals at any time. In<br />

addition to these tools for tracking our performance, the bulletin<br />

board also includes easy-to-read charts that indicate the status<br />

of our sales efforts to introduce new technologies to our major<br />

customers.”<br />

4. RED FLAG MEETINGS<br />

“Daily red flag meetings are held in the team area and are<br />

attended by all team members. These meetings are ‘stand-up’ meetings<br />

that usually last anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. The purpose of<br />

these meetings is to raise red flags and to quickly identify resources<br />

to address the issues raised. These meetings are the lifeblood of<br />

communicating <strong>with</strong> the team members and are an essential tool<br />

for quickly sharing critical information.”<br />

5. REVENUE GAP MEETINGS<br />

“These meetings are held immediately after the red flag meetings<br />

and are also ‘stand-up’ meetings that last no longer than 5 or<br />

10 minutes. Their purpose is to identify the current revenue for<br />

each customer, the individual customer forecast for that month, and
