BPM – Business Process Management is the confluence of many specific technologies
By the other side, SOA – Service Oriented Architecture is the new and here to stay software architecture that
promises to solve the main challenge organizations have today: the integration of the whole business processes.
Enterprise Architecture framework
We have been working with new processes technologies since the 1990s, first with the advent of model driven
development, and then entering in the components fields, which lead us to work with processes integration using
the very first tools in the beginning of the 2000s’ (using products like Compuware Optimal Flow and Ultimus).
Since then we are focusing more and more on business and process integration projects.
We developed a construct to understand the possibilities of those new tools to implement whole business
processes, which we use as a basis for all of our IS architecture projects and development, and is illustrated
below:
