forming part <strong>of</strong> the great chain <strong>of</strong> Taurus, <strong>and</strong> lying to the southeast <strong>of</strong><br />

the Arsissa palus or Late Van. <strong>The</strong>ir summits are covered <strong>with</strong> snow<br />

throughout the whole year, <strong>and</strong> to this circumstance the name Niphates<br />
