(GC-FID) the following drugs: -Amphetamines -Barbiturates -Benzodiazepines -Cocaine -Ethanol
-Opiates -Phencyclidine -Tetrahydrocannabinol This assay represents the coupling of IDOAU/8248 Drug
Abuse Survey, Urine with an automatic confirmation of all positive results by the definitive assay
available and described elsewhere (eg, AMPHU/8257 Amphetamines, Urine). All positive screening
results are confirmed by GC-MS or GC-FID, and quantitated, before a positive result is reported.
Useful For: Detecting drug abuse involving amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine,
ethanol, marijuana, opiates, and phencyclidine This test is intended to be used in a setting where the test
results can be used definitively to make a diagnosis. Some drug treatment programs do not require
confirmatory testing of screen-positive specimens. In those settings, IDOAU//8248 Drug Abuse Survey,
Urine is a less costly option.
Interpretation: A positive result indicates that the patient has used the drugs detected in the recent
past. See individual tests (eg, AMPHU/8257 Amphetamines, Urine) for more information. For
information about drug testing, including estimated detection times, see Drugs of Abuse Testing at
Drug Abuse Survey, Urine
Clinical Information: The test uses immunologic testing to screen for the presence of common drugs
of abuse by class. Positive results are not confirmed or quantified by definitive methods. If the results of
testing must be definitive, CDAU/9446 Drug Abuse Survey with Confirmation, Urine is recommended. In
some settings (eg, drug treatment programs) screening is used to monitor patients and confirm abstinence.
Useful For: Detecting drug abuse involving amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine,
ethanol, marijuana, opiates, and phencyclidine This test is an inexpensive urine drugs of abuse screen that
can be used when qualitative results are sufficient and when definitive results are not required.
Interpretation: A positive result indicates that the patient may have used 1 of the drugs detected by
this technique in the recent past (see Cautions about false-positive rate). The immunoassay methodology
used in this test is good for detecting the presence of a drug. However, false-positives do occur (see
Cautions). More detail on each drug group may be found in the specific test designed for that drug (eg,
AMPHU/8257 Amphetamines, Urine).
Reference Values:
Negative
The specific drug identified will be reported.
