RESUMEN FINAL • La baja resistencia a la fatiga de las uniones soldadas se atribuye generalmente a lo reducido del período de iniciación de las fisuras. • Los métodos de mejora de las soldaduras tienen como principal objetivo el aumento de la resistencia a la iniciación de las fisuras. • Es posible obtener aumentos sustanciales de la resistencia a la fatiga de manera consistente cuando se utilizan los métodos de mejora. • No obstante, tan sólo resulta posible obtener el potencial pleno del método de mejora de la soldadura si se pueden evitar los colapsos prematuros de otros emplazamientos, por ejemplo la raíz de la soldadura. • Normalmente, el grado de mejora es mayor en el caso de los aceros de mayor resistencia que en el de los aceros dulces. • Los efectos del tamaño son menores en el caso de las uniones de baja rigidez, lo que implica que los efectos del tamaño se ven mitigados por los métodos de mejora de las soldaduras que reducen la concentración local de tensiones. • Los problemas de control de calidad son similares a los que conlleva el proceso de la soldadura en sí. • La cuestión de utilizar o no un método de mejora se relaciona con el coste y con los beneficios permitidos en las reglas para el cálculo. • Todavía son necesarios más trabajos para mejorar la calidad de los reglamentos de cálculo y de asesoramiento para el cálculo. 7.
