- Forests, Trees and People (FTP) Newsletter is a quarterly publication produced in English, French and<br />
Spanish which is distributed to people interested in community forestry activities. It forms part of the<br />
FTP programmes networking activities which are jointly run by the Community Forestry Unit, FAO,<br />
Rome, Italy; SILVA at 21 rue Paul Bert, 941300 Nogentsur-Marne, France; and regional programmes<br />
in Cameroon, Ecuador and Thailanci.<br />
- Honey Bee IS a global network for documenting, testing and exchanging information about indigenous<br />
ecological and technological innovations. The Honey Bee newsletter is published Hi five languages<br />
and the network extends to 57 countries Network membership for those in the South is based on<br />

- Institute of Dev<strong>el</strong>opment Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, Brighton, BN1 9RE, UK produces the<br />
Discussion Papers series and the IDS Bulletin. Topics cover a broad range of dev<strong>el</strong>opment issues.<br />
- International Institute for Environment and Dev<strong>el</strong>opment (IIED), 3 Endsleigh Street, London WCIH ODD,<br />
UK. The Sustainable Agriculture Programme produces an informal journal, PLA Notes (Notes on<br />
Participatory Learning and Action - formerly RRA Notes), which is available free to subscribers in the<br />
South There is a small charge for back issues. The programme also produces the Participatory<br />
Methodology Series (of which this guide is one component) consisting of a range of training<br />
materials including training guides and audio-visual materials. Page i of this<br />
- guide gives more details. The Gatekeeper Series provides short briefing papers on policy issues, while the<br />
Research Senes covers recent research r<strong>el</strong>ated to sustainable agriculture. Both series are free to<br />
Third World readers. The Drylands Programme produces a French series, R<strong>el</strong>ais MARP, to provide<br />
practical information on participatory appraisal in West Africa. It also distributes a quarterly bulletin,<br />
Haramata, along with Issues Papers in English and French that deal with natural resource<br />
management issues in dryland areas, larg<strong>el</strong>y in Africa. This bulletin is free to those working for<br />
Southern organisations. The Human Settlements Programme produces a journal, Environment and<br />
Urbansation, that covers a range of community dev<strong>el</strong>opment issues in urban settings.<br />
- Information Centre for Low External Input Agriculture (ILEIA), PO Box 64, 3830 AB Leusden, The<br />
Netherlands produces the quarterly ILEIA Newsletter on a range of issues r<strong>el</strong>ating to sustainable<br />
agriculture and participatory technology dev<strong>el</strong>opment. Individuals and organisations in the South<br />
may request free subscriptions from ILEIA.<br />
- International Rural Dev<strong>el</strong>opment Centre, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (IRDC), Box 7005,<br />
S75007, Uppsala, Sweden, publish a series of issues papers targeted at policy-makers and<br />
implementors of rural´dev<strong>el</strong>opment.<br />
- Intermediate Technology (IT) Publications produces several quarterly journals including Appropriate<br />
Technology and Waterlines. It also runs a Books by Post scheme, which increases access to a<br />
catalogue of recommended books on appropriate technology and dev<strong>el</strong>opment issues. More<br />

examines methodological, institutional and dev<strong>el</strong>opment policy issues. Baobab, produced by the Arid<br />
Lands Information Network, Casier Postal 3, Dakar, Senegal is designed for fi<strong>el</strong>d practitioners<br />
working in dryland areas and is produced in both English and French.<br />
- Panos, 9 White Lion Street, London N1 9PD, UK produces Panoscope six times per year. This is aimed at<br />
stimulating debate on a wide range of dev<strong>el</strong>opment issues. Panos Briefings are intended for<br />
journalists reporting on environment and dev<strong>el</strong>opment issues. These publications are available free<br />
