Nous étudions le phénomène de retournement temporel dans un milieu homogène nondissipatif contenant des obstacles rigides. Nous proposons un modèle mathématique d’un miroir àretournement temporel. Nous prouvons dans ce cas le caractère autoadjoint de l’opérateur de retournementtemporel et nous présentons des résultats numériques de focalisation sélective sur lesobstacles.ABSTRACT. We study the time reversal phenomenon in an homogenous and non-dissipative mediumcontaining hard-sound obstacles. We propose a mathematical model of an time-reversal mirror. Miroir à retournement temporel 4911. IntroductionLe retournement temporel d’ondes acoustiques a connu ces dernières années un regaind’intérêt considérable dans des domaines d’applications très variés, qui vont de lamédecine (imagerie médicale ultrasonique) au contrôle non destructif, en passant par lacommunication sans fil en acoustique sous-marine. En effet, malgré le fait que l’idée théoriquede ce phénomène existe depuis plusieurs décennies, ce n’est que dans les années 90qu’un dispositif électronique exploitant cette idée, n’a pu être mis en place : On parle deMiroir à Retournement Temporel (MRT).Le MRT est formé d’un réseau de transducteurs (émetteurs-récepteurs d’ondes acoustiques: haut-parleurs / microphones) permettant de ré-émettre “à l’envers” un signal reçud’une source acoustique.Dans le domaine fréquentiel, le processus de retournement temporel est décrit commesuit : le MRT émet d’abord une onde acoustique dans un milieu homogène et non dissipatifcontenant des obstacles diffractants inconnus et ensuite mesure le champ diffracté. Lechamp mesuré est alors conjugué (le R.T. se réduit à une conjugaison de phase lorsque ladépendance en temps est de la forme e −iwt ), puis ré-émis dans le milieu de propagation.L’opérateur de retournement temporel T est obtenu par deux itérations successives de ceprocessus.La méthode D.O.R.T (Décomposition de l’Opérateur de Retournement Temporel) permetde calculer les éléments propres de T . Les valeurs propres sont liées à l’amplitude del’onde diffractée par les obstacles, ce qui permet de focaliser globalement sur eux.C. Prada et M. Fink ont montré expérimentalement ([1]) que le nombre de valeurs propressignificatives de T est égal au nombre d’obstacles dans le cas où les obstacles diffractantssont supposés ponctuels, et leurs interactions sont négligées. Ce résultat a été prouvé théoriquement([2]) si on suppose que le champ mesuré par le MRT est le champ lointain del’onde diffractée par les obstacles en utilisant une étude asymptotique.Dans ce papier, nous présentons un modèle mathématique d’un miroir réel intrusif (quiperturbe le champ diffracté par les cibles). L’interaction entre le MRT et les obstacles estprise en compte, ce qui permet de traiter le cas où les deux sont proches.Nous prouvons dans ce cas le caractère autoadjoint (hermitien), positif et compact de T ;ses valeurs propres sont donc réelles positives. Nous montrons numériquement que pourdes obstacles réels (de taille non négligeable devant la longueur d’onde), le nombre devaleurs propres significatives de T est égal au nombre d’obstacles.2.
