The annual revenue collected has almost doubled in the last five years after
restructuring. The collection efficiency has increased from 92.74 per cent in
1999-2000 to around 98 per cent in 2004-05.
4.3.6 Collection Efficiency
The collection efficiency in respect of major consumer categories (domestic,
agricultural and industrial) in the four DISCOMs are indicated below:

Collections under the domestic and industrial categories are consistently good
in EPDCL. In NPDCL the collection efficiency in the domestic category has
increased from 88 to 92 per cent, whereas the efficiency in the industrial
category has been maintained around 98 per cent. Under the agricultural
category, the percentage of collections has come down in the years 2003-04
and 2004-05 in SPDCL due to the continued drought conditions in the area
served by the company. Also, the State Government’s policy announcement of
free power to agricultural category had affected the revenues under this
