Commission were appointed in March 1999 as per the provisions of the said
Act.
The members are selected by a selection Committee consisting of:
i.
A retired Chief Justice of any High Court or a
retired Judge of the Supreme Court

ii. The Chairman of the Central Electricity Authority Member
iii. The Chief Secretary of the State Member
The selection committee shall have to submit the panel of two suitable persons
for each of the commission members to the State Government in alphabetical
order, from among whom the State Government shall appoint one of the two as
a member of the Commission.
The procedure prescribed for selection of the chairperson and members of the
State Commission in the EA, 2003 is almost the same except for a minor
difference in the composition of the Selection Committee. According to the
provisions of the EA, 2003, the Selection Committee shall consist of:
a) A person who has been a Judge of the High Court.
b) The Chief Secretary of the State.
c) The Chairperson of the CEA or the Chairperson of the Central Electricity
Regulatory Commission.
