Trapping
Enable the TRAPPING option if you want documents to be trapped automatically
during the conversion process.
Trapping compensates for the possibility of misregistration on the printing
press by creating small areas of overlapping color where objects
meet. This prevents or minimizes white gaps between adjacent objects.
A separate software license is required for the trapping functionality.
Notes: • Do not use automatic trapping if the layout data is trapped already.
• Trapping is usually not required for output on proof printers.
• If a page containing more than 255 colors in high-res elements is
converted to TIFF/IT or Scitex Handshake format (without NLW file),
some objects may not get trapped, since the number of linework colors
is limited to 255.
• If linework was trapped manually on an ORIS PDF Tuner layout, this
will be ignored when the layout is trapped automatically.
• Using ORIS PDF Tuner you can trap objects manually, with individual
settings for every object (see page 18-1).

Exclude CopyDot images from trapping
Enable this option to speed up the conversion process when processing
documents with CopyDot images. This may also prevent moiré patterns.
CopyDot images are not trapped automatically if this option is enabled.
CopyDot images are always placed on top of all other objects if this option
is enabled. This may change the appearance of a document in some
cases.
Trapping Profile List
Use this list to select a profile defining the basic rules for calculating trapping
as well as trapping exceptions.
Click or to modify a trapping profile. This opens the TRAPPING PA-
RAMETERS dialog (see page 3-55).
