Exporting Layouts
‘Data Format’ Tab (PS, EPS, Flat PS, Flat EPS)
when using ORIS pixel masks. Otherwise try the other formats in the order
listed above.
Notes:
We only recommend to use the linework format PATH if PS documents
are supposed to be edited on another system (i.e., not output directly).
In ORIS PDF Tuner you can reduce file size by reorganizing linework
graphics before placing them on a layout (see page 26-9).

Flat EPS/PS
Gradients
This option defines the internal format to be used for gradients:
• IMAGE – Gradients are created as images.
This increases output quality, but also file size and RIP times.
• POSTSCRIPT – Gradients are created in PostScript code.
This creates a more compact code and therefore shorter RIP times.
Spot color gradients can only be output in PostScript code if you set
the PostScript language to PostScript Level 3 (see page 3-17).
Linear gradients created with ORIS PDF Tuner can only be output in
PostScript code if all base points are located on a straight line. We
recommend to use guides when creating such gradients (see
page 10-2).
Embed PostScript Fonts
All except
Flat EPS/PS
If this option is enabled, all PostScript fonts used in the documents being
processed will be embedded in the output documents. This increases file
size, but ensures that the documents can be output correctly even if the
fonts are not installed on the output device.
TrueType, OpenType and other non-PostScript fonts are always embedded
in the output document, regardless of how this option is set. This is
also true when exporting ORIS PDF Tuner layouts that use PostScript
fonts which are no longer available on the system.
Convert fonts to paths
All except
Flat EPS/PS
If this option is enabled, all fonts will be converted to PostScript paths.
This may increase file size considerably, depending on the amount of
text used in a document.
This option should only be used if font problems occur during output that
cannot be solved otherwise.
