6. Click on the point at the right in order to activate
it. The handles appear.
7. Click on the active point.
The handles disappear and the path segment
which connects the previous point becomes
a vector (straight line).
The active point and the point clicked previously
become corner points (squares) because
they are the end points of a vector.
At this point, too, the two path segments form
a corner now.
Using Handles
A curve point has two handles, one for each path segment starting from
this point. Use these handles for changing the form of these path segments.
Depending on the length of a handle and the degree by which
you incline it, you can achieve a wide variety of modifications to the path
form and its curvature.
For example, decreasing the length of a handle reduces the curvature of
a path segment at the active point. You can produce a corner by reducing
the handle length to 0 so that the handle disappears.
How to Display Handles
1. Activate the point, e.g. by clicking on it.
The point changes in color (default is magenta). If it is a curve point,
the handles appear automatically.
2. If it is a corner point, position the cursor on the point and drag it with
the (left) mouse button pressed down.
The corner point is converted to a curve point, the path form changes
and the handles appear.
How to Modify Path Form Using Handles
The two handles of a point can have two different properties:
