Whenever you open the TRANSFORMATIONS toolbar, the scaling factor is
reset to 1 and the angles are reset to 0. In addition, clicking the button
restores the size the layer had before the toolbar was opened.
This is different when you correct image layers using
the MENU window. In this case the following is true:

• The values displayed in the toolbar take into account all of the transformations
made after the image was inserted into the layout.
• Clicking the button resizes the image according to the EXPECTED
PRODUCTION RESOLUTION defined using FILE | LAYOUT PARAMETERS.

Moving Freely
You can drag active objects to any position you want using the mouse.
Use the left mouse button on Windows systems.
This is only possible if the resize or rotation handles are displayed for
the active object (see figure).
If they aren’t visible, end the current function by clicking on the layout or
reselecting the button on the TRANSFORMATIONS toolbar.

Moving Horizontally or Vertically Only
Method 1
Hold the SHIFT key pressed down when dragging an object to restrict the
movement to the horizontal or vertical direction. This is only possible if
the resize or rotation handles are displayed for the active object (see
above).
To change the direction from horizontal to vertical or vice versa, release
the mouse button and press it again, then resume dragging the object.
