Inserting Images into Several Paths Simultaneously
If several paths, layers or masks are active when inserting a background
image, they act as one single element into which the image is positioned
once. This means that only one layer is created.
You can insert an image into a maximum of 8000 paths.
Inserting Images into Paths
Having inserted an image into a path, the paths still exists.
Open paths are closed automatically with a line created as a separate
path between the starting and ending point.
Linework
If an image is inserted into a linework layer, all linework colors except
transparent colors (i.e., usually the background color) constitute the
mask that clips the inserted image.
Linework cannot be inserted as a background image.
Placing Foreground Images

Foreground images are cut-outs directly positioned on a layout and not
clipped by a path or mask. For examples refer to page 11-1.
How to Insert Cut-outs
1. Make sure the window of the layout on which you want to position the
cut-out is active.
2. Load the image of which you want to insert a cut-out (see page 20-6).
3. To do so, click or select IMAGES | OVERVIEW to display the current
image overview, a ‘gallery’ of thumbnail images.
If the image is not available there, use OPEN OVERVIEW in the MENU
window to select another image overview, or FILE | OPEN IMAGE.
4. Create a mask defining the image area to be inserted (see
page 21-1). Or select an existing mask (see page 22-5).
If you do not use a mask, the entire image will be positioned on the
layout. A vector mask is created automatically for this purpose (except
for linework).
