Finding out the Number of Masks
How to find out the number of masks created for a specific image:
• For image opened in a window:
Select MASKS | ACTIVATE. The number of masks is displayed at the
top of the STATUS window.
• In the image overview
Click on the image’s thumbnail representation. The number of masks
is displayed in the STATUS window below NUM OF MASKS. A plus sign
(+) indicates that at least one of these masks is used on the current
ORIS PDF Tuner layout.
The number of Photoshop masks is displayed at the bottom of the
STATUS window below # P-PATHS. An asterisk indicates that one of
them is a clipping path (see page 22-12 and page 22-12).
• On a layout
Activate the image layer (see page 16-1) and select INFO in the MENU
window. The number of ORIS and Photoshop masks is displayed in
the STATUS window.

The following information is displayed in the STATUS window of the
MASKS | ACTIVATE function:
No. of masks
This value specifies the number of masks belonging to the current image.
After selecting ALL MASKS the value specifies the total number of
masks of all images in the same directory that have the same size as
the displayed image.
Mask ID
A number only indicates an ORIS mask, i.e. a mask stored in ORIS
mask files. You can select a mask by entering this number, provided
that the image window has the focus.
The full name of such masks, which is displayed in the MASK ADMIN-
ISTRATION dialog, is always ORIS-MASK (n is this number).
Any other name indicates a Photoshop mask, which is stored in the
image file itself. Long names are shortened to 24 characters.
If +/- RESULT appears instead of the mask name, the current mask
was generated by adding or subtracting two masks and has not yet
been stored. See also Combining Pixel Masks (page 22-9).
