Creating Mixground Layers

Copying Vector Cut-out Paths into Layout
If you have positioned a vector cut-out (i.e. a cut-out created with paths),
you can copy these paths into the layout, e.g. in order to create a frame
around the cut-out (see page 8-10).
1. Activate the layer of the cut-out (see page 16-1).
2. Select COPY PATH in the MENU window.
Note:
When used for an EPS image, the COPY PATH function copies the EPS
clipping path into the layout. If you have additionally used a vector mask
to position the image, it additionally copies all paths of this mask. If you
have used a pixel mask, however, only the clipping path is copied.
Creating Mixground Layers
Mixground images are cut-outs inserted into another layer which clips
the image. You cannot only position cut-outs as mixground layers, but
also any layer (e.g. a text or gradient). For more details and examples
refer to page 11-2.
Inserting Mixground Cut-outs
1. Activate the layer into which you want to insert the cut-out (see
page 16-1).
2. Select MIXGROUND in the MENU window. This turns the layer into a
restricting layer that will clip the mixground layer.
3. Load the image of which you want to insert a cut-out.
To do so, click or select IMAGES | OVERVIEW to display the current
image overview, a ‘gallery’ of thumbnail images.
If the image is not available there, use OPEN OVERVIEW in the MENU
window to select another image overview, or FILE | OPEN IMAGE.
4. Create a mask defining the image area to be inserted (see
page 21-1). Or select an existing mask (see page 22-5).
If you do not use a mask, the entire image will be positioned on the
layout. A vector mask is created automatically for this purpose (except
for linework).
