Adding Shadows to Text

• UNLINK PREVIOUS TEXT
Interrupts the text flow between the current and the preceding layer.
The text of the current layer is appended to that of the preceding layer,
which may cause the text box to overflow.
• UNLINK NEXT TEXT
Interrupts the text flow between the current and the subsequent layer.
The text of the subsequent layer is appended to that of the current
layer, which may cause the text box to overflow.

Transparent Shadow for Black Headlines
1. Activate the headline layer (see page 16-1).
2. Select DUPLICATE in the MENU window.
A duplicate of the headline is now located on top of the original layer.
The duplicate will become the transparent (and soft-edged) shadow.
3. Move the duplicated headline slightly down and to the right.
The best way to do this is to OPTION- (Mac OS) or ALT-
(Windows) repeatedly. Alternatively, enter the amount by which the
layer should be moved into the X and Y boxes at the left end of the
TRANSFORMATIONS toolbar, e.g. +2 and –2 (see also page 19-5).
4. Click on the button to open the TRANSPARENCY... dialog.
5. Define the degree of transparency, e.g. 40% (see also page 17-1).
6. Click on the SOFT EDGES tab if you want to soft-edge the shadow.
