Adding Base Points
1. CTRL-click (Mac OS) or right-click (Windows) repeatedly until a new
point without color values appears in the STATUS window.
2. To set a new point, click on the layout or enter the coordinate directly.
The COLOR SELECTION dialog appears.
3. Define the color for the new point (see page 10-8).
Deleting Base Points
1. Select the point to be deleted:
• Next point: CTRL-click (Mac OS) or right-click (Windows).
• Previous point: SHIFT-CTRL-click/SHIFT-right-click.
2. Select DELETE POINT in the MENU window.
Modifying Transparency, Trapping or Soft Edges
Select TRANSPARENCY in the MENU window. For more details refer to
Transparency and Soft Edges (page 17-1) and Trapping (page 18-1).

Coloring Paths
Having inserted color into a path, the path still exists.
Open paths are closed automatically when they are colored. This is done
by automatically inserting a new path between the two end points.
Coloring Text Paths
Areas in which text characters overlap are not colored if one of the following
is true:
• The characters are colored together with a path which is not a text
character.
• Smooth text: The characters adjust to more than one line (see
page 13-1).
Coloring Text Layers
Inserting a tint or gradient into a text layer (using , or ) sets all
text characters to the same color, i.e. all color changes applied during
text editing are lost.
