Selecting Points and Paths
The element you are editing may consist of several closed or open
paths. In this case you may have to select the path you want before you
are able to edit it.
The points on a path must be selected before they can be moved or deleted.
A point may have several states, which is shown in the following
figure:

How to Select a Path
If an element consists of more than one path, you must first select the
path you want to edit. The selected path becomes active, i.e. ready to be
modified.
To activate a path, SHIFT-click on it. All points of this path appear if they
were hidden before. However, if the path is active already, SHIFT-clicking
it will mark or unmark all of its points.
