3.1) The Crystal Physics Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Academician Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Dr. Kirill S.<br />

Aleksandrov who was born in 1931 and graduated from <strong>the</strong> Leningrad<br />

ElectroTechnical Institute in 1954. His interests are in single crystal growth,<br />

structural phase transitions, and ferroelectrics. Senior researchers in this labora<strong>to</strong>ry<br />

include: Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Dr. Vik<strong>to</strong>r I. Zinenko, D. PM. S. He was born in 1942 and<br />

graduated from Tomsk State <strong>University</strong> in 1964. His interests are in electron and<br />

phonon band structure calculations, and phase transitions; Ana<strong>to</strong>lii V. Zamkov, C.<br />

PM. S., born in 1949. His interests are in crystal optics; Ana<strong>to</strong>lii I. Kruglik, C.<br />

PM. S., born in 1947. His specialty is X-ray analysis; Igor N. Flerov, C. PM. S.,<br />

born in 1942. He is an expert in calorimetry, and Boris B. Beznosikov, C. PM. S.,<br />

who was born in 1930 and is a specialist in crystal chemistry.<br />

3.2) The Magnetic Materials Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Leonard N. Bezmaternykh, C. PM.<br />

S. He was born in 1934 and graduated from Tomsk State <strong>University</strong> in 1957. He is<br />

a crystal growth scientist.<br />

3.3) The Kinetic Processes Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Inga P. Aleksandrova who was born<br />

in 1934 and graduated from Ros<strong>to</strong>v State <strong>University</strong> in 1958 is a specialist in NMR<br />

in crystals, ferroelectricity, and incommensurate structures. The senior researcher in<br />

her labora<strong>to</strong>ry is Iuri G. Elizaryev, C. PM. S., born in 1955, who has interests in<br />

NMR.<br />

3.4) The Radio-spectroscopic Analysis Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Evald P. Zeer, C. PM.<br />

S. He was born in 1935 and graduated from <strong>the</strong> Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical Institute<br />

in 1957. His interest are in EPR and NMR in solids. Senior researchers in <strong>the</strong><br />

labora<strong>to</strong>ry included: Dr. Vladimir E. Zobov, D. PM. S., born in 1948. His work is<br />

in <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>ory <strong>of</strong> EPR and NMR.<br />

3.5) The Resonance Properties <strong>of</strong> Magnetics Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Dr.<br />

German A. Petrakovskii, D. PM. S. He was born in 1937 and graduated from<br />

Tomsk State <strong>University</strong> in 1962. His fields are in EHF properties <strong>of</strong> magnets and<br />

high-temperature superconduc<strong>to</strong>rs. Senior researchers in his labora<strong>to</strong>ry include:<br />

Sergei S. Aplesnin, C. PM. S., born in 1954. His specialty is Monte-Carlo<br />

simulation <strong>of</strong> disordered magnets. Ana<strong>to</strong>lii I. Pankrats, C. PM. S., born in 1946.<br />

His field is AFMR in magnetic insula<strong>to</strong>rs. Gennadii S. Patrin, C. PM. S., born in<br />

1952. He works in pho<strong>to</strong>-induced magnetism. V. Galina Loseva, C. PM. S., born<br />

in 1937. Her primary interest is in metal-insula<strong>to</strong>r phase transitions.<br />

(4.) The Department <strong>of</strong> Optics has two labora<strong>to</strong>ries:<br />

4.1) The Molecular Spectroscopy Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Dr. Vasilii F.<br />

Shabanov, D. PM. S.--a corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Russian</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Sciences</strong> since 1991--was born in 1940 and graduated from <strong>the</strong> Omsk State<br />

Pedagogical Institute in 1962. He is a specialist in liquid and molecular crystals and<br />

in molecular electronics. Senior researchers in this labora<strong>to</strong>ry include: Evgenii M<br />

Averyanov, D. PM. S., born in 1951. His interests are in phase transitions in liquid<br />

crystals. Vik<strong>to</strong>r Iurii Zyryanov, C. PM. S., born in 1955. His interests are in liquid<br />

crystals.<br />

4.2) The Coherent Optics Labora<strong>to</strong>ry under Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Dr. Aleksandr K. Popov. He<br />

was born in 1941 and graduated from Tomsk State <strong>University</strong> in 1963, and is a<br />

specialist in nonlinear optics. Senior researchers include: Vitalii V. Slabko, born in<br />

1949, born in 1949. He is a specialist in <strong>the</strong> laser spectroscopy <strong>of</strong> gases. Vladimir<br />

M. Shalaev, C. PM. S., born in 1957. He specializes in <strong>the</strong> optical properties <strong>of</strong><br />

fractals.<br />

(5.) The labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> Strong Magnetic Fields under Boris F. Khrustalev. He was<br />

born in 1939 and graduated from Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical Institute in 1962. His<br />

interests are in superstrong stationary magnetic fields, magnetic properties <strong>of</strong><br />
