1968, he received <strong>the</strong> USSR State prize for s<strong>of</strong>tware incorporated in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mir<br />

Sumarokov, Leonid N., D. Tech. S. Born in 1938. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Information Science, Computer Technology, and Au<strong>to</strong>mation Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> AN<br />

SSSR since 1984. Since September 1987, he has been one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Deputy chairmen<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GKNT. Since 1977, he has been Direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Scientific and Technical<br />

Information International Center in Moscow which was established in 1969.<br />

Subordinate <strong>to</strong> CEMA, it was <strong>to</strong> set up as a shared data base for scientific and<br />

technical cooperation between <strong>the</strong> Soviet Bloc Countries. (LDA 89-11378.)<br />

Svitashev, Konstantin K., D. PM. S. Born in 1936. Physicist. Specialist in <strong>the</strong><br />

elements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bases in information systems, and diagnostics <strong>of</strong> semiconduc<strong>to</strong>r<br />

structures. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Information Science, Computer<br />

Technology, and Au<strong>to</strong>mation Department since December 1987 and reconfirmed in<br />

1992. He has authored and co-authored 104 scientific works <strong>of</strong> which two are major<br />

monographs. He graduated from <strong>the</strong> Leningrad State <strong>University</strong> in 1959. He<br />

worked as an engineer at <strong>the</strong> State Optics Institute imen S. I. Vavilov from 1959 <strong>to</strong><br />

1962. In 1962, he began working at <strong>the</strong> Semiconduc<strong>to</strong>r Physics Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Siberian Department, in 1975 becoming its Deputy Direc<strong>to</strong>r. In 1980, he was made<br />

Head <strong>of</strong> SKTB as a specialist in <strong>the</strong> electronics and <strong>the</strong> analytics <strong>of</strong> instrument<br />

making. He has been a pr<strong>of</strong>essor at <strong>the</strong> Novosibirsk State <strong>University</strong> since 1985<br />

and, as a pr<strong>of</strong>essor has supervised <strong>the</strong> research <strong>of</strong> two doc<strong>to</strong>ral students and <strong>of</strong> 11<br />

aspirants for <strong>the</strong> candidate degree. He is edi<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> journal Microelectronics. He<br />

received <strong>the</strong> Laureate Prize <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Soviet Ministers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> SSSR in 1984.<br />

Vas’kov, (Vaskov) Semen T., D. Tech. S. Born in 1934. Engineer. Specialist in <strong>the</strong><br />

au<strong>to</strong>mation <strong>of</strong> scientific research. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RAS since 1992.<br />

He has authored and co-authored 72 scientific works <strong>of</strong> which one was <strong>of</strong><br />

monograph length and consequence. In 1990, he was named Deputy Direc<strong>to</strong>r and in<br />

1992, he became General Direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> “Informatika”--<strong>the</strong> special scientific<br />

construction bureau <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ANR. He is on <strong>the</strong> Scientific<br />

Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> academy for <strong>the</strong> au<strong>to</strong>mation <strong>of</strong> scientific research. He is a pr<strong>of</strong>essor at<br />

both <strong>the</strong> Novosibirsk State <strong>University</strong> and <strong>the</strong> Kishenev Polytechnical Institute. His<br />

major work is in developing a system <strong>of</strong> digital car<strong>to</strong>graphy. As a pr<strong>of</strong>essor, he has<br />

directed <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> seven aspirants for <strong>the</strong> candidate degree. He is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Scientific Council on <strong>the</strong> “Sibir” program. He also serves on <strong>the</strong> UNESCO program<br />

on regional statistics. He has been a consulting specialist on <strong>the</strong> telecommunications<br />

project for <strong>the</strong> Siberian region.<br />
