Shabanov, Vasilii F., D. PM. S. Born in 1940. Physicist. Specialist in <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong><br />

optico-electronics and molecular spectroscopy. Corresponding member General<br />

Physics and Astronomy Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department<br />

since 1990. In 1988, he was named a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Presidium <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Krasnoiarsk<br />

Scientific Center <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RAS. He is Head <strong>of</strong> a labora<strong>to</strong>ry<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kirenskii Physics Institute in Krasnoiarsk. He has co-authored 165 scientific<br />

works <strong>of</strong> which three are monographs. His work has contributed greatly <strong>to</strong> an<br />

expansion <strong>of</strong> knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> physical characteristics <strong>of</strong> molecular<br />

microelectronics. He is a pr<strong>of</strong>essor at <strong>the</strong> Irkutsk State <strong>University</strong> where he has<br />

overseen <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> ten aspirants for <strong>the</strong> candidate degree. He is a consulting<br />

specialist <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Technical Construction Bureau “Nauka” <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department,<br />

heads <strong>the</strong> Council on au<strong>to</strong>mation <strong>of</strong> scientific research in <strong>the</strong> Krasnoiarsk Scientific<br />

Center, and is on <strong>the</strong> Scientific Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> RAS on problems <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spectroscopy<br />

<strong>of</strong> A<strong>to</strong>ms and Molecules.<br />

Shalagin, Ana<strong>to</strong>lii F., D. PM. S. Born in 1943. Experimental Physicist. Specialist in<br />

nonlinear spectroscopy. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Physics and<br />

Ma<strong>the</strong>matics Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department since 1990.<br />

He has written eight major scientific works and co-authored ano<strong>the</strong>r 108, <strong>of</strong> which<br />

two are monographs. He is Head <strong>of</strong> a labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Au<strong>to</strong>matic and Electrometry<br />

Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department in Novosibirsk. He has assisted in <strong>the</strong><br />

development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> kinetic <strong>the</strong>ory <strong>of</strong> nonlinear resonance, and in his research has<br />

experimentally found a method for polarizing nonlinear resonance with spectroscopy<br />

. He has discovered and researched a new class <strong>of</strong> incandescent phenomena in a<br />

laser radiation field. He is a pr<strong>of</strong>essor at <strong>the</strong> Novosibirsk State <strong>University</strong> where he<br />

has overseen <strong>the</strong> doc<strong>to</strong>ral research <strong>of</strong> two persons and <strong>the</strong> research <strong>of</strong> four aspirants<br />

for <strong>the</strong> candidate degree. He was on <strong>the</strong> Scientific Council on Spectroscopy, and a<br />

consultant <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institute <strong>of</strong> Au<strong>to</strong>mation and Electrometry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian<br />

Department. He is an edi<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> journal, “Au<strong>to</strong>metry.”<br />

Sidorov, Veniamin A., D. PM. S. Born in 1930 in Vladimir Oblast. <strong>Russian</strong> physicist.<br />

Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Nuclear Physics Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> and <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Siberian Department since 1968. He graduated from Moscow State <strong>University</strong><br />

in 1953 and joined <strong>the</strong> staff <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institute <strong>of</strong> A<strong>to</strong>mic Energy. In 1962, he affiliated<br />

with <strong>the</strong> Institute <strong>of</strong> Nuclear Physics <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> AN SSSR.<br />

Since 1970, he has been Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Particle Physics Labora<strong>to</strong>ry and <strong>of</strong> "Sidorov's<br />

Department" and since 1977, he has been Deputy Direc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Budker Nuclear<br />

Physics Institute in Novosibirsk established in 1957. He helped <strong>to</strong> develop <strong>the</strong><br />

colliding beam technique. He has investigated quantum electrodynamics, fastneutron<br />

spectrometry, vec<strong>to</strong>r mesons, multihadron annihilation, and colliding beams<br />

<strong>of</strong> electrons and positrons. He is an Honored Scientist <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> former Soviet Union,<br />

and member <strong>of</strong> an edi<strong>to</strong>rial board <strong>of</strong> a scientific journal. Lenin Prize, 1967. (GSE<br />

Sok<strong>to</strong>yev, Aleksandr B., D. Philological S. Born in 1931. Specialist in literature and<br />

folklore. Corresponding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Philosophy and Law Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Academy</strong> and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department since 1990. Head <strong>of</strong> a sec<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

His<strong>to</strong>ry, Philology and Philosophy Institute <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Siberian Department in<br />

Novosibirsk-Akademgorodok. He has authored 119 scientific works, <strong>of</strong> which two<br />

monographs have particular significance, and he is <strong>the</strong> co-author <strong>of</strong> 10 publications<br />

<strong>of</strong> which two are monographs, <strong>of</strong> which “The His<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> Buriat Soviet Literature” is<br />

one (1967). He teaches at <strong>the</strong> Buriat State Pedagogical Institute imeni Dorzhi<br />

Banzarova where he has guided <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> three aspirants for <strong>the</strong> candidate degree.<br />

He was on <strong>the</strong> Scientific Council on folklore <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> AN SSSR and a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

coordination council for <strong>the</strong> comparative study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Soviet and American cultures.<br />
