1956 The creation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> largest in <strong>the</strong> USSR Sodium Labora<strong>to</strong>ry with 11 facilities was<br />

finished.<br />

1957 The decision was made on building mobile NPP TES-3.<br />

1958 Hot Labora<strong>to</strong>ry equipped with protected cameras for radio-chemical and material<br />

research was introduced.<br />

January, 1959 Sodium-cooled fast reac<strong>to</strong>r BR-5 was started and it's power achived 5<br />

MW in June.<br />

August 25, 1960 The decision was made on renaming "B" Labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>to</strong><br />

Institute <strong>of</strong> Physics & Power Engineering (IPPE).<br />

1960 In co-operation with OKBM, OKB "HydroPress" and NIIPIET design works on<br />

<strong>the</strong> fast breeder BN-350 in Shevchenko were started.<br />

1961 The BFS facility was introduced <strong>to</strong> perform fast reac<strong>to</strong>r cores modelling.<br />

1963 In co-operation with TV "EnergoBlock" design works on <strong>the</strong> Bilibinskaya NHPP<br />

project were initialized.<br />

1963 The Nuclear Data Center (NDC) was introduced in <strong>the</strong> IPPE. This Center works in<br />

co-operation with <strong>the</strong> same centers in USA (Brookhaven), in France (Sakle) and<br />

IAEA (Vena).<br />

1969 The experimental sodium-cooled fast breeder BOR-60 was started in Melekess. This<br />

reac<strong>to</strong>r was designed under scientific control <strong>of</strong> IPPE and OKB "HydroPress".<br />

April 21, 1970 Complex testing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> nuclear <strong>the</strong>rmo-emission installation "Topaz"<br />

were successfully held in IPPE.<br />

1971 The unique aerodynamics installation was constructed for <strong>the</strong> hydrodynamics<br />

research <strong>of</strong> reac<strong>to</strong>rs in TFK-1.<br />

1975 The chemistry researchers group headed by A.G. Karabash developed <strong>the</strong> new<br />

branch in high precision substance analysis-- chemical-spectral methods.<br />

1977 The Computational Center <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Department was introduced.<br />

1980 The Heat-Physics Data Center was created .<br />

1982 The Chemical-Labora<strong>to</strong>ry Building was built.<br />

1984 The fast breeder fuel utilization program developed in IPPE in co-operation with<br />

VNIINM was started at Mayak plant.<br />

February 2, 1987 The "Topaz" <strong>the</strong>rmo-emission nuclear power installation embedded<br />

in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> space apparatus "Kosmos-1818" was lead <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> orbit.<br />

1989 Test amount <strong>of</strong> Tc-99M was produced. Serial production <strong>of</strong> medical-aided<br />

substances was initialized.<br />
