Media”, and in 1991 with A. V. Sokolovskii <strong>the</strong>ir work on “Method for Measuring<br />

<strong>the</strong> Difference <strong>of</strong> Planet Refraction Angulars by Two Wave Lengths” was<br />

recognized as an invention. The Department has two labora<strong>to</strong>ries and one section<br />

(sec<strong>to</strong>r or group) under it:<br />

<strong>the</strong> labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> atmospheric refrac<strong>to</strong>metry,<br />

<strong>the</strong> labora<strong>to</strong>ry for atmosphere investigations by space aids, and <strong>the</strong> section <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>oretical<br />

investigations;<br />

(5.) <strong>the</strong> Numerical Simulation <strong>of</strong> Atmospheric Processes and Au<strong>to</strong>mation<br />

Department is under <strong>the</strong> direction <strong>of</strong> V. B. Ponomarev, C. PM. S. who oversees<br />

<strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> one labora<strong>to</strong>ry and five sections (or research groups):<br />

<strong>the</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware labora<strong>to</strong>ry,<br />

<strong>the</strong> research au<strong>to</strong>mation section,<br />

<strong>the</strong> computing hydrodynamics section,<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>oretical hydrodynamics and atmospheric ecology<br />

section, and<br />

<strong>the</strong> numerical simulation <strong>of</strong> salt-dust transfer and orographic effects section.<br />

O<strong>the</strong>r scientists from <strong>the</strong> institute who have received recognition for <strong>the</strong>ir scientific work<br />

include: V. I. Tatarskii, and S. S. Kashkarov, who with o<strong>the</strong>rs shared in <strong>the</strong><br />

discovery <strong>of</strong> “The Regularities <strong>of</strong> Enhancement <strong>of</strong> Wave Back Scattering, 1988”<br />

Academician A. M. Obukhov, Drs. A. S. Gurvich, V. I. Klyatskin, and o<strong>the</strong>rs for<br />
