Lebedev Precision Mechanics and Computation Techniques Institute in Moscow that was established in 1948 subordinate to the Academy's General Physics and Astronomy Department for the purpose of developing computer hardware and software, concentrating on high speed computers. His works have included the principles and methods of building digital computers, theoretical and practical problems of automatic control, and the principles of implementing multi-processing systems.
